Thank you, Veterans!
One of my favorite descriptions of Occupational Therapy is “creating skills through the job of daily living”. I try to help children learn and practice skills through themes, so obviously this past week was all about our Veterans.
We completed movement activities by marching, crawling, swimming, and flying through an obstacle course in the sensory gym.
Fine motor skills were addressed by stringing beads on pipe cleaners with color matching and object counting added as appropriate to the child’s developmental level. Hiding the beads in Playdoh or putty is extra fun and builds hand strength too!
Handwriting was practiced by writing thank you letters to a Veteran.
Learning should be fun!!
